The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on newly formed Atlantic Tropical Storm Claudette, centered about 290 miles south-southeast of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

There are nocoastal watches or warnings in effect.

Satellite data indicated that the maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph.

Little change in strength is forecast through this evening. Weakening is forecast to begin by Tuesday morning, and Claudette is forecast to become a post-tropical cyclone by Tuesday night.
