Port St. John, Merritt Island, Cocoa Win Sectional Titles, Move On To State Tourneys

Several of the Florida District 22 Champions competed in their Florida Section 3 Tournaments on Saturday.
The Port St. John Little League 50-70 (Intermediate) Baseball team won their Sectional tournament and now move on to the Florida Intermediate Baseball State Tournament, which will be held at South Brandon Little League July 17-20.
In 9-10 Baseball, Merritt Island Little League, representing District 22, met the District 11 Champs, Navy-Ortega-Lakeshore (NOL), in their first game.
Merritt Island was led offensively by Rylan Diaz who hit a 3-run homer in the first inning.

Tommy McGee went 3-for-3 at the plate and pitched 5 strong innings on the hill picking up the 12-4 win for Merritt Island.
In their second game, Merritt Island met the District 19 Champions, West Volusia Little League.
Merritt Island broke the game open in the third inning when catcher Nolan McClanahan hit a 3-run triple and finished the day 2-for-3, scoring 3 runs.

Merritt Island’s Tyler Mulley went the distance as the team won 14-1 in 4 innings.
Both Merritt Island games were live streamed via Space Coast Daily from Deland with Orville Susong and Steve Wilson of the Friday Night Locker Room calling the play-by-play.
Merritt Island will now move on to the Florida 9-10 Baseball State Tournament at San Carlos Little League on July 17-20.
COCOA WINS 9-10 SOFTBALL SECTIONALS

In 9-10 Softball, Cocoa Little League won their Sectional Tournament and will move on to their Florida State Tournament at Cross Bayou Little League on July 17-20.
In other divisions, for District 22, Merritt Island Little League’s 10-11 Baseball, and Mims Little League’s Senior Baseball and Junior Softball represented well, but did not advance.
