Two Cocoa Teens Arrested After High Speed Chase For Robbery, Battery, Burglary

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Two teen robbery suspects were arrested after a high speed chase by police and charged with Robbery, Battery, Burglary of conveyance and theft.

According to Cpl. Dave Jacobs of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded on Friday at about 5:24 p.m. to the 7-11 at 5700 N. Wickham Road in Melbourne, in response to a report of a Robbery.

The investigation determined that a female victim, who had stopped at the gas pumps to fuel her vehicle, was approached by a black male who took her purse from her vehicle.

Store video surveillance showed the suspect, later identified as 16-year-old Dominique Sanders of Cocoa, pushing past the victim while entering the driver’s side of her vehicle to take her purse.

The suspect, along with a second male identified as 19-year-old Corwyn Mitchell of Cocoa, then left the area in a gold Toyota Four Runner.

The Rockledge Police Department then observed the vehicle on Fiske Boulevard in Rockledge.

Rockledge police officers attempted to stop the suspect’s vehicle, which then fled at a high rate of speed, then crashing on Avondale Road in Rockledge, according to Cpl. Jacobs. Both Sanders and Mitchell were then taken into custody.

Mitchell was transported to the Brevard County Jail where he is being held without bond and charged with Robbery, Battery, Burglary of conveyance and theft.

Sanders was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center where he is also held without bond and is charged with Robbery, Battery, Burglary of conveyance, theft and Felony Violation of Probation.

Sanders was already serving a sentence of probation for a previous burglary.

According to Cpl. Jacobs, prior to the robbery at 7-11, both suspects unsuccessfully attempted to enter two other vehicles in the parking lot.

The victims of the other vehicle have not yet been identified and investigators are asking that the other unsuspecting victims come forward to assist in the investigation.
