COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA — Hosted by Cocoa Beach Karate School for the seventh year in a row, Martial Arts for St. Jude will kick off at Cocoa Beach Health & Fitness on August 28 at 5:30 p.m. to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers.

The fundraising event will showcase martial arts skills and students will perform 100 kata non stop to promote the lifesaving mission of St. Jude.

Tickets to the event or donations, which is open to the public, are available by contacting Des Chaskelson at 321-693-7831 and or des_chas@scri.com.

“Every $10 or $20 helps us reach our goal and helps kids fight cancer” said Des Chaskelson, Sensei at Cocoa Beach Karate School.

This is the seventh year that Cocoa Beach Karate School has held the Martial Arts for St. Jude program.

Cocoa Beach Karate has raised more than $22,000 for the St Jude Kids since it began in 2009.

“Martial arts is about character development,” said Sensei Des Chaskelson, event coordinator.

“What better lesson can we teach our students to build character than to help those in need? Our event gives us a great opportunity to help the kids of St. Jude who are fighting for their lives against deadly diseases such as cancer.”

Since opening in 1962, St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and around the world.

No child is ever denied treatment because of a family’s inability to pay.
