BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Health First is pleased to announce it has awarded nursing scholarships to 40 nurses from the organization, beginning with the fall 2015 semester.

Funds for the 2015 Health First Foundation Nursing Scholarships were made possible by gifts to the Health First Foundation.

The 2015 Health First Foundation Nurse Scholarship is a new avenue to promote lifelong learning and an expanded Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce.

During the event, scholarship winner and Health First’s Palm Bay Hospital Emergency Department nurse Dawn Yochim shared, “I have worked for Health First for four years and helping patients and families in their time of need is so satisfying for me. I am very grateful to be chosen for a scholarship to continue my education. This has given me an opportunity to advance my career faster than I could have ever done on my own.”

Health First simultaneously increased the amount of tuition reimbursement for full- and part-time benefit-eligible associates enrolled in a BSN or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program.

The enhanced tuition benefit increased to $5,000 for full-time associates and $2,500 for part-time associates in a MSN program and $3,000 for full-time associates and $1,500 for part-time associates in a BSN program per calendar year effective with the fall 2015 semester, which can be used in conjunction with the Foundation scholarship.
