NHC: Hurricane Danny Now Labeled Tropical Storm Danny, Winds Drop To 50 MPH

Hurricane Danny is now Tropical Storm Danny after the latest report from the NHC reveals that max sustained winds have dwindled down to 50 MPH.

NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER – Hurricane Danny switches over to Tropical Storm Danny after the latest report from the NHC reveals that max sustained winds have dwindled down to 50 MPH.

The storm continues to push closer to the Leeward Islands after it once was a Category 3 hurricane two days ago.

Winds reached 115 MPH on Friday, however the closer it has approached the Leeward Islands the more it has weakened and will continue to weaken.

NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER – On this Friday morning, the National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane Danny, which is now a Category 2 storm, and located over the central tropical Atlantic Ocean about 1,000 miles east-southeast of the Leeward Islands.

Elsewhere, a broad non-tropical area of low pressure is located a couple of hundred miles south of Bermuda. This system is interacting with an upper-level low and is producing a large area of showers and thunderstorms mainly to the east of the surface low.

Environmental conditions could support some tropical or subtropical development while this system moves slowly northward over the western Atlantic Ocean through the weekend.

A tropical wave located just off of the west coast of Africa is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Some slow development of this system is possible during the next several days while the wave moves westward at 15 to 20 mph over the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.

Another tropical wave is expected to move off the west coast of Africa in a couple of days. Some development of this system is possible early next week while it moves westward over the eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean.
