BY THE NUMBERS: Brevard County High School Football Week 3 Wrap-Up
By Alan Zlotorzynski // September 14, 2015
FNLR PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hayden Kingston

Prep Football Week 3 on the Space Coast is in the books and some things are starting to take shape in Brevard County high school Football.
Entering Week 4, four Brevard County teams were undefeated and after this week, only one team remains without a loss.
Melbourne Central Catholic defeated Archbishop Carroll 47-0, to move to 3-0 on the young season and opens district play next Friday versus rival Holy Trinity.
The Rockledge Raiders picked up where they left off last week with an impressive win over the Commodores at Eau Gallie High. Senior QB Jacquez Lyons was the Friday Night Locker Room player of the game as he threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another in his team’s 45-13 victory.
The numbers 13 and 24 are popular this week, so without further ado, here is the rest of Week 3 By the Numbers:
4: Number of touchdown passes Viera QB Hayden Kingston tossed in his teams win over Merritt Island Friday night. Kingston’s stat line was something straight out of an NFL shootout. Kingston was 21-31 for 341 yards and the four TD’s. The TD’s travelled 25, 29, 36 and 15 yards.

143: Kingston’s top target on Friday was not WR Tre Nixon but Alex Cabrera. The Satellite High transfer hauled in nine of Kingston’s 21 completions for a whopping 143 yards and scored two of the four passing TD’s.

15: Palm Bay defeated Bayside 45-7 on Friday night. The win for head coach Dan Burke’s team was the 15th straight versus Bayside and the fifth straight contest in which the game was decided by four touchdowns or more.
13: Usually an unlucky number, 13 turned out to be head coach David Lowe’s lucky number on Friday night. His Cocoa Beach Minutemen upset Poinciana 22-21 on a two point conversion by RB David Demeter with no time left on the clock. The win snapped Cocoa Beach’s 13-game losing streak.
24: The Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers are Brevard County’s only remaining unbeaten team. They defeated Archbishop Carroll on Friday afternoon 47-0. Last week, MCC defeated the Satellite Scorpion’s 13-7, as Will Erdman accounted for 12 of the 13 points.
He picked up on Friday where he left off last week. Erdman scored on 90 yard kickoff return and a 25 yard TD pass from QB John Adler. That means Erdman scored 24 of his team’s first 27 points (3 Will McKegg EP’s) dating back to last week. He did so in three different ways: the kick return and receiving TD, as well a 65 yard pick six vs. Satellite.

24: The Rockledge Raiders earned head coach Wayne Younger his first career victory last week when they defeated Duval Charter from Jacksonville 41-0. Younger picked up his second career win vs. the Eau Gallie Commodores as his Raiders fell behind 7-0, but then reeled off 24 unanswered points in their 45-13 victory at Commodore Stadium on Friday Night. Senior QB Jacquez Lyons, the Friday Night Locker Room player of the game, was responsible for three TD’s in the win as he tossed two and ran for one.
13: Week 4 promises to be another exciting week of football around the county. District play begins this Friday as 13 of the 17 Brevard County teams engage in their first district game of the season.
FNLR PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Viera QB Hayden Kingston

Brevard County is lucky this year to have such quality QB play. Bruce Judson of the Cocoa Tigers, Deshaun Mills of the Heritage Panthers and we saw Jaquez Lyons of Rockledge emerge on Friday as a name to be reckoned with at the position.
However and with all due respect to the above mentioned names, the top passer in the county this season and this week’s player of the week is Viera Hawks QB Hayden Kingston.
Kingston was 21-31 for 341 and the four TD’s this past week as Viera downed Merritt Island. Congratulations to Kingston and his Hawks on a job well done.
Week 4 Look Ahead
Brevard County teams will have their hands full this week as three of the teams the local boys play have a combined record of 9-0. Cocoa, who were beaten pretty soundly by the IMG Academy last week, travels to play Lake Highland Prep who is 3-0.

Mel-High Head coach Scott Grish and his Melbourne Bulldogs travel to play St. Augustine, who is also unbeaten at 3-0. Viera head coach Kevin Mays’ team continues to play an upgraded schedule in 2015, as they travel to Lakeland to take on the 3-0 Kathleen Red Devils in one of the only non-district games of the week.
