NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Flood Watch issued earlier has been extended through late tonight for the coastal counties of east central Florida.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding and people in the watch area should be ready to take protective action if flood warnings are issued.

Heavy rainfall amounts to 2 to 3 inches, locally higher, may cause minor flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas with showers and storms that move through the area today and tonight.

Areas along the coast, that have received heavy rainfall the past few days will be particularly at risk for flooding.
