BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s women’s soccer team achieved a milestone today when it was ranked No. 1 nationally in the NJCAA Division I poll.

The ranking, combined with the No. 1 ranking in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll released on Tuesday, marked the first time in its six seasons that the program is No. 1 in both polls.

Eastern Florida, then known as Brevard Community College, earned the NJCAA’s No. 1 women’s national ranking on Sept. 5, 2012, suffered a defeat and re-captured the top spot on Oct. 17.

“As always we appreciate the recognition,” said Eastern Florida head coach Jeff Carr.

“The players have achieved a first for the program. Our ultimate goal remains winning our first national championship on Nov. 21.”

The Titans carried the No. 1 ranking into the NJCAA Women’s Division I National Championship where they finished as runner-up.

The NSCAA did not award the Titans a No. 1 ranking in 2012.

Eastern Florida hosts the NJCAA Women’s Division I National Championship on the Melbourne Campus for the third straight time this November and will host again in 2016.
