BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – For the second straight week, Florida Tech true freshman running back Antwuan Haynes has been named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week, announced on Monday.

The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native did a little bit of everything for FIT during last Saturday’s 55-48 loss to No. 8 North Alabama.

The lightning quick running back snagged two passes for 24 yards, including a 16 yard touchdown reception from quarterback Mark Cato. He also rushed three times for 13 yards.

The freshman’s biggest impact, though, may have been in the kicking game. The Panther speedster returned six kicks for 153 yards, including a 53-yard return that set FIT up in UNA territory.

In the end Haynes finished the game with 190 all-purpose yards, second most of anybody in the game and the most by any Panther this season.

Haynes was also tabbed GSC Freshman of the Week for Week 3 after tallying 107 yards on nine carries in the Panthers’ 37-0 victory over Warner.

UNA quarterback Luke Wingo was named the GSC Offensive Player of the Week, while West Georgia defensive end Alex Armah secured the defensive award. Additionally, West Alabama returner Tyreek Hill received the conference special teams player of the week honor.
