BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA –  A manhunt is underway for a shooting suspect by the Melbourne police and Brevard Sheriff’s Office as a woman was shot this morning at about 10:15 a.m. during a gun battle at the Portofino Villas apartments, located on Trinidad Circle in Melbourne.

According to police, a man and a woman entered their apartments and discovered the suspect already inside. After a confrontation, the two men exchanged gunshots.

During the gun battle, the victim was struck and was later taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center.
