BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s women’s soccer team defended its consensus No. 1 national ranking on Friday, defeating consensus No. 2 Darton College 3-0 on the Cavaliers home ground in Albany, Georgia.

Eastern Florida improved to 4-0 with its second shutout of the season. Darton fell to 5-1.

The Titans have now scored 16 goals and allowed four.

Eastern Florida’s leading scorer Paula Astiazaran notched the first goal on assists from Serena Delgado and Khadija Shaw in the 35th minute. Shaw made it 2-0 in the 41st minute on an assist from Haley Cook.

Abbie Camargo closed the scoring in the 80th minute on an assist from Julia Hernandez.

Titans goalkeeper Steff Barreras made two saves.

The No. 1 vs. No. 2 match was the first for the Titans in their six seasons as a program.

Next up for the Titans is their first Florida College System Activities Association/NJCAA Region 8 match of the year as they host Polk State College at 6 p.m. Monday at the Titan Soccer Complex on the Melbourne Campus.
