BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA –  “Up With People” performed their first ever show in Brevard County Friday evening before a full auditorium at Holy Trinity Academy in Melbourne.

The group of 120 students entertained the audience for two hours with inspirational music and renditions of hits from the 1960s through today.

The performance celebrated the 50-year journey of the people who have traveled with the organization over the years.

T McCreary came from Orlando to watch the performance and meet the crew. McCreary himself traveled for three and a half years with UWP in the 1960s. He actually went through his high school education with the traveling performance and community service oriented group.

“It was a special time in my life and it’s great to see the tradition continue,” said McCreary.

He was recently in Orlando with 3,000 other alumni of UWP and it was quite a reunion.

“To have 3,000 UWP alum all in one place was a tribute to what the program has meant to so many.”

The “Up With People” group will present their final performance Saturday evening at Holy Trinity before continuing their worldwide journey.
