Eastern Florida Women’s Soccer Dominates With 18-0 Victory In Illinois

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s nationally No. 1 ranked women’s soccer team moved its record to 9-0 on Saturday with an 18-0 victory at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois.
Lake County dropped to 2-8.
Eastern Florida, which defeated Waubonsee Community College 13-0 on Friday in Sugar Grove, Illinois, led 10-0 at the half on Saturday.
The 18 goals set a school single-game record. Every Eastern Florida player saw action. The Titans have scored a total of 42 goals in their last four games. The shutout was their fifth of the season.
Scoring on Saturday were freshman Paula Astiazarn who increased her school-record goal total to 18 with four; classmate Julia Hernandez, who also scored four; sophomore Briana Camargo and freshman Khadija Shaw, who both scored a pair; sophomore Abbie Camargo; sophomore Haley Cook; sophomore Rosie Lindo; freshman Bethan Jones and freshman Jay Bales, all who scored one each.
Eastern Florida’s 18th score came on a Lake County own goal.
Abbie Camargo recorded three assists; Astiazaran had two; Bales had two; Shaw had two; Jones had two. Cook, Lindo, Briana Camargo, Isabella Burns and Helen Ramsey had one each.
Goalkeepers Steff Barreras and Asmara Holmes each played one half, Holmes making two second-half saves.
Eastern Florida outshot Lake County 49-2.
Eastern Florida returns home to face No. 3 nationally ranked Darton College (9-1) at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 at the Titan Soccer Complex on the Melbourne Campus.
