Flandreau Family Opens Surfer Joe’s, Features Space Coast’s Best Italian Ice

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Joey Flandreau, a class of 2004 Cocoa Beach High graduate, is back in town and has opened Surfer Joe’s Tropical Ice, which features the Space Coast’s best Italian Ice.
Flandreau’s family is originally from Massachusetts, so he is very familiar with “water ice,” which is better known as Italian ice. His mother, Donna opened the same kind of business in Massachusetts with her sister, but then moved to Cocoa Beach when Joey was four years old.
After graduating from UCF, he and his family decided to open a restaurant in Cocoa Beach serving a great product unlike any other available to the area.
“We are a local family in Cocoa Beach dedicated to successfully introducing a great product to this great, small town,” said Flandreau.
“After five years of experience in creating this Italian Ice, we are committed to serving Cocoa Beach and helping the community in any way we can.”
In addition to premium Italian Ice, Surfer Joe’s offers Gelati and Soft-Serve Ice Cream, as well as pretzels and great hot dogs.
Surfer Joe’s features in house equipment to create their own Italian ice featuring only fresh ingredients.
“The ingredients are stirred together in a machine that freezes the ingredients making crystals form and creating a rich, consistent, smooth, yummy product,” said Flandreau.
“But don’t just trust me, but come in and try one of our many free samples.”

And, if you need a place to throw a party, this is the place to be. Children can get a visit from Surfer Joe himself and the party mess doesn’t come home with you.
“Surfer Joe’s is a fantastic place to bring the family for a healthier dessert and while sitting and relaxing the kids can play Giant Jenga or a game of Corn-Hole,” said Flandreau.
Surfer Joe’s is located at 124 N. Atlantic Avenue in Cocoa Beach and offers free wifi. Store hours are Sunday 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Wednesday-Thursday 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.; and Friday-Saturday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
