Florida Tech’s Ciera Misner Named SSC Defensive Player of the Week
By Florida Tech // October 19, 2015

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – An honoree just three weeks ago, junior Ciera Misner has yet again been named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced Monday.
A mainstay on Florida Tech’s backline, having started in all 13 games this season, Misner helped guide the Panthers to their seventh shutout of the season at Florida Southern last Saturday.
In addition, Misner provided all the offense needed by drilling the game-winning free kick in the 85th minute to secure the 1-0 win over the Moccasins.
Earlier in the week, the West Shore High School graduate also converted a penalty kick in the second half against Nova Southeastern. Now 3-1-1 in its previous five matches, Florida Tech currently leads the SSC in goals against average (0.77).
Entering the final week of the regular season, Misner and the Panthers will welcome Lynn to Rick Stottler Field Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET in a rare non-conference meeting with the Fighting Knights.
A goal in the fifth minute by Madeleine Keenan lifted FIT to a 1-0 win over LU in the teams’ earlier matchup on Oct. 3.
