BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Health First’s Palm Bay Hospital and Viera Hospital recently were ranked among the cleanest hospitals in Florida by Becker’s Hospital Review based on patient feedback.

Palm Bay Hospital ranked fourth on the list, with 83 percent of patients reporting their rooms and bathrooms as “always” clean, and Viera Hospital ranked 12th, with 81 percent.

“The cleanliness of our facilities is an integral part of providing the best possible environment for those we serve,” said Bill Calhoun, President of Hospital Operations for Health First’s four hospitals.

“We are pleased to be recognized by the people who were cared for in our hospitals.”

The list, published by Becker’s Hospital Review, is based on patient responses to the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey.

The hospitals included on the list had 80 percent or more of patients report their rooms as “always clean,” a ranking significantly higher than the state average of 70 percent and the national average of 74 percent.

The survey data came from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Hospital Compare and was collected from Oct. 2013 to Sept. 2014.
