BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Fire Rescue, in partnership with the Palm Bay Firefighters Benevolent, is gearing up for the fifth annual Pink Shirt Campaign.

The 2015 t-shirt was designed by Palm Bay business, Art Lab LLC, who will be donating a dollar to the campaign for each shirt sold.

Shirts will be available at Palm Bay Station 1 on Pt. Malabar Road October 1. City of Palm Bay Firefighters donate to the cause each year and wear the shirts throughout the month of October along with a number of other City of Palm Bay employees.

Proceeds from the shirts go to local women to fund annual breast exam screenings. This year the Palm Bay Firefighters Benevolent plans to use donations to offer screenings to at least 20 local women in need through HerScan.

PALM-BAY-FIRE-RESCUE“The cost for a scan from HerScan is $195 for everything, screening both breasts and under the arms, the radiologist reading, radiology results and the U.S. postage to mail the tests directly to the patient,” said Lieutenant Cheryl Parent.

“Once we have reached our goal of enough shirts sold to fund exams for at least 20 women we will be announcing the location of our own HerScan event in partnership with the Palm Bay Firefighters Benevolent.”

City of Palm Bay employees and local businesses are encouraged to join in on “Pink Friday,” by donating to the cause and wearing the shirts to work.

Shirts are available for a suggested donation of $20 dollars, Long Sleeves $25 and there is a limited supply so get yours quickly.
