ABOVE VIDEO: On Tuesday afternoon, Space Coast Daily had the opportunity to talk with Brevard County Sheriff’s Agent Casey Smith and his wife Michelle about their family’s harrowing ordeal – and Casey’s quest to get back to work.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – It’s been a tough road for Brevard County Sheriff’s Agent Casey Smith since he was shot in the line of duty on Aug. 20 in Port St. John.

After being wounded, Agent Smith underwent several surgeries and spent more than a month in recovery at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Since returning to Brevard on Sept. 30, Agent Smith has been continuing to make his recovery and was honored Monday by Florida Gov. Rick Scott with the Medal of Heroism.

On Tuesday afternoon, Space Coast Daily had the opportunity to talk with Casey and his wife Michelle about their family’s harrowing ordeal and Casey’s desire to get back to work.
