25 Years Ago President Bush Designated November ‘National American Indian Heritage Month’

In 1990, President George H. W. Bush approved a joint resolution designating November 1990 “National American Indian Heritage Month.”
Join us in a celebration of this rich cultural heritage.
Pictured is John Bennett Herrington, former NASA astronaut and naval aviator.
In 2002, Herrington, a member of the Chickasaw tribe, became the first enrolled member of a Native American tribe to fly in space during STS-113.
