BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s women’s basketball team plays its home opener at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday hosting state No. 4-ranked and nationally No. 12-ranked College of Central Florida.
Admission is free.
Eastern Florida, ranked seventh in the state, is 2-0 and College of Central Florida 1-1.
The Titans opened the season with a 2-0 forfeit win over ASA Miami and then defeated Santa Fe College 77-66 on Friday in Gainesville.
Central Florida, which reached the semifinals of the 2014 Florida College System Activities Association/NJCAA Region 8 tournament, opened this season with an 82-61 loss to Gulf Coast State and defeated IMG Academy 95-75.
Central Florida has three players averaging double figures in points: sophomore Thais Oliveira (22), sophomore Marcella Rocha (14.5) and freshman Amanda Melosky (13).
Oliveira is averaging 9.5 rebounds per game and Rocha 5.5 assists and 5.5 steals.
EFSC Sophomores Nene Johnson and Emma Grimes each scored 18 points for Eastern Florida against Santa Fe while classmate Paoloa Vasquez added 10.
