BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — The Florida Department of Transportation and Ranger Construction will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Eau Gallie River Bridge.
The commemorative ceremony will take place at the south end of the Eau Gallie River Bridge at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17.
The new four-lane bridge will alleviate the current traffic congestion on U.S. 1 south of the Eau Gallie Causeway.
That stretch of road is one of Melbourne’s busiest, with more than 56,000 vehicles per day.
The Eau Gallie Bridge is a reverse curve, or “S” curve, bridge.
The reverse curve design allows the Eau Gallie Bridge to connect at the Commodore Boulevard intersection.
The aesthetics of the elegant “S” curve design offers an attractive addition to scenic environments.
The Florida Department of Transportation urges travelers to exercise caution and awareness when driving through construction zones. Also please buckle up, and don’t text and drive.
