Hamm, Hersey Tabbed On All-SSC Teams For Florida Tech

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – On Tuesday, Florida Tech’s volleyball team received some good news as two Panthers were selected to the All-Sunshine State Conference volleyball teams, with Alea Hamm being named honorable mention and Olivia Hersey cracking the newcomer team.

A native of Dothan, Alabama, Hamm is a first-time All-SSC honoree. The senior was the Panthers’ top producer at the net this season, leading the team in kills (250) and blocks (104).

Hamm tallied double-digit kills 10 times this season, and notched a season-high 14 kills twice, on Oct. 16 versus Christian Brothers and Nov. 6 against Eckerd.

Hamm finished the season ranked second in the SSC in blocks per set (1.05) and 14th in total kills.

Hersey was one of just three freshmen recognized on the All-SSC squads. A resident of nearby Orlando, Florida, Hersey was under the radar heading into the season but made her presence felt by displaying by her skill set on both sides of the ball.

She finished third on the team in kills (223) and second in blocks (85), while leading FIT in return average (.969).

The freshman registered the seventh-best attack percentage (.292) in the SSC.

Florida Tech ended the year 13-16 and 4-12 in the SSC, finishing just behind Lynn for ninth overall in the conference standings.
