71-Year-Old Man Killed In Vehicle Crash At Eldron Boulevard and San Filippo Drive

Palm Bay police have announced that Turner Elementary School in Palm Bay has been placed on lockdown status, and Southwest Middle School was evacuated after a bomb threat about 11 a.m. Friday.
Palm Bay Police traffic Investigators responded to the scene of a fatal crash that occurred just after 8:30 p.m. Monday night.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police traffic Investigators responded to the scene of a fatal crash that occurred just after 8:30 p.m. Monday night. 

The incident occurred near the intersection of Eldron Boulevard SE and San Filippo Drive SE in Palm Bay.

According to police reports, a GMC Yukon ran the stop sign on Eldron and as the vehicle crossed San Filippo it struck the Nissan Altima driven by the victim.

The driver of the Yukon, a 25-year-old male, and his passenger refused medical attention at the scene and claimed to have no injuries, according to Palm Bay police.

The Altima suffered from full driver’s side impact and the 71-year-old male victim did not have a pulse when first responders arrived.

He was transported to Palm Bay Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:19 p.m.

Next of kin has been notified and charges are pending for the driver of the Yukon.
