BCSO Arrest Suspect For Aggravated Battery In Cape Canaveral, One Man Shot

BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to Chandler Street in Cape Canaveral Tuesday when a report of a disturbance resulted in one person being shot.
The investigation found that a verbal dispute became physical involving the suspect, identified as 36-year-old William Richard Scott, of Cape Canaveral and an unnamed adult male victim, according to Cpl. Dave Jacobs of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
The situation deescalated for a brief period.
However, as Scott began to leave, the victim began hitting Scott’s vehicle with his hands, according Cpl. Jacobs.
While sitting inside the vehicle, Scott fired one round from his handgun that hit the victim.
The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
William Scott was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Battery in reference to the shooting and was taken to the Brevard County Jail without bond.
