BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – As construction proceeds ahead of schedule on the new Port Canaveral Logistics Center at Titusville, the Canaveral Port Authority Commission this month will consider whether to further extend its footprint on the mainland for cargo expansion.
Port staff wants permission to negotiate for a north area site for a new auto logistics terminal and a central area site for a bulk cargo facility.
Both locations offer rail access and position the Port to offer better efficiency to its cargo customers and increase market reach into Midwestern states.

“It is typical for seaports to build facilities inland in order to better service customers and to generate additional jobs for the community,” said Alberto Cabrera, Port Canaveral Senior Director of Cargo Business Development.
“With 85-percent of our goods transported via ocean, these facilities help and rail access help us as customers to get what we need and want for our everyday lives closer to home.”
The north location being proposed is a 111-acre site just north of the Port Logistics Center at Titusville with access to Norfolk Southern rail line.
The central locations are in Cocoa near U.S. 1 and S.R. 528 with access to the Florida East Coast rail line.
