The Eastern Florida State College Foundation received a $5,000 gift from the Florida Smooth Jazz Foundation to establish a Music Merit Scholarship. BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College Foundation received a $5,000 gift from the Florida Smooth Jazz Foundation to establish a Music Merit Scholarship.

The presentation was made on Dec. 8 on stage at The King Center for the Performing Arts by Dr. Cathy Powers, Director of the Florida Smooth Jazz Foundation.

Dr. Chanji Kim, Chair of the EFSC Performing and Visual Arts Department and Mr. Jim Bishop, Director of Instrumental Music were on hand to accept the gift.

The scholarship will be awarded to two EFSC Jazz Ensemble members based on a competition which will be held in April 2016.
