Eastern Florida State Defeats Polk State College In Gainesville 90-78

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s men’s basketball team closed the 2015 portion of its schedule in style on Sunday, defeating Polk State College 90-78 on the final day of the Florida JUCO Shootout at Santa Fe College in Gainesville.

Eastern Florida rebounded from a 74-61 loss to Gulf Coast State on Saturday to improve to 12-2. Polk State fell to 10-5.

Eastern Florida got 18 points from freshman and leading scorer Kareem Brewton, 17 from freshman C.J. Jackson and 16 from freshman Jon Martin to defeat Polk.

Jackson added four assists and five steals. Brewton had four steals.

Sophomore B.J. Gladden once again ruled the boards, pulling down a game-high nine rebounds.

Eastern Florida shot 57.4 percent from the floor for the game and 47.8 from the three-point line.

The Titans led 49-38 at halftime.

“I am so proud of the guys tonight,” said Eastern Florida head coach Jeremy Shulman.

“It was amazing the way they bounced back from yesterday. They showed great resiliency. The bench stepped up, and then was also loud throughout. Great group of guys who really came to play today.”

Eastern Florida is now off until Jan. 2 when it hosts Harcum College of Pennsylvania at the Titan Field House on the Melbourne Campus where it has won 53 straight games.
