Gladden, Vasquez Earn Eastern Florida Student-Athlete of Week Honors

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Basketball players B.J. Gladden and Paola Vasquez are the Eastern Florida State College Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Dec. 6.
Gladden, a sophomore forward from Charlotte, North Carolina and the University of Akron, scored nine points, grabbed 15 rebounds and recorded eight assists and three blocks as Eastern Florida defeated host St. Petersburg College 75-71 in overtime on Dec. 2.
Eastern Florida improved to 10-1.
Vasquez, a sophomore from Ciales, Puerto Rico and Florida Prep, totaled 57 points, nine rebounds, five assists, five steals and a blocked shot in three games.
Her totals included 28 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 79-77 loss at the College of Central Florida.
The honor was the second straight for Vasquez.
Eastern Florida fell to 5-6 with three losses in the week to Central Florida, defending national champion Chipola College and Gulf Coast State College, all of which are ranked in the top seven in the state and were either ranked in the national pre-season poll or are ranked in the current national poll.
