BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Deputy of the Month recognition follows Deputy Mark Spencer working a criminal investigation regarding the sale of a firearm by a convicted felon that occurred at a Pawn Shop in Merritt Island, Florida.

Deputy Spencer initiated the investigation and subsequently developed sufficient evidence to obtain a Capias for the subject’s arrest. He then located the suspect at an address in Cocoa where he was arrested by Deputies from our West Precinct.

In addition to his duties as a Deputy Sheriff for our agency, Mark also volunteers his time as a member of our “Enforcers” Basketball Team, a Basketball Coach at Merritt Island High School and dedicates countless hours to working with youth through our Police Athletic League Program.

Please join me in congratulating Mark for earning “Deputy of the Month” and for all he does everyday to help keep our community safe.
