BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – In recognition of their work both on the field and in the classroom, Florida Tech juniors Manny Abad, Matt Nelson and Chris Stapleton have been named to the Gulf South Conference FireSeeds Fall All-Academic Team.

Abad and Stapleton repeat as members of the distinguished group after joining former Panther Ramsey Sellers as FIT’s first ever GSC All-Academic members a year ago. Nelson is bestowed with the laurel following his first season starting in Crimson and Gray.

All three players were unanimous selections, an honor earned by only 11 of the 25 players. Stapleton was also a unanimous selection on the 2014 team.

To qualify for nomination, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA, be a sophomore or higher, spent at least one year at the current institution and be a starter or a significant contributor.

The all-academic team was voted on by GSC faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors.
