Jon Martin, Emma Grimes Earn Eastern Florida Student-Athlete Honors

BREVARD COUNTY MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Basketball players Jon Martin and Emma Grimes are the Eastern Florida State College Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 3.
Martin, a freshman guard from Manchester, New Hampshire and Manchester Central High, scored 16 points, recorded three assists, two rebounds and a steal in an 87-86 loss to Harcum College that ended Eastern Florida’s 53-game home court winning streak on Saturday.
Martin was 4-for-8 from the three-point line.
Eastern Florida is 12-3.
Grimes, a sophomore guard from Melbourne, Florida, St. Thomas University and Covenant Christian School, scored a team-high 24 points including six three-pointers as Eastern Florida fell 90-86 in overtime at once-beaten Daytona State College on Saturday.
Playing the nation’s toughest schedule according to the Massey Ratings, Eastern Florida is 7-7.
