Three Armed Home Invaders Elude West Melbourne Police After Traffic Stop, Foot Pursuit

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police responded to a home invasion Thursday morning involving several armed black males that entered the victim’s residence by force, according to police.
During the early morning hours, three black males dressed in hooded sweatshirts entered the victim’s home located in the Saratoga Apartment Complex in Melbourne by force, reportedly seeking drugs.
“The unidentified suspects displayed handguns and threatened the victim,” said Melbourne Police Deputy Chief Vince Pryce.
“After demanding drugs (marijuana), the suspects took the victim’s wallet, cash, vehicle (a 2013 Volkswagon Jeta) and fled the scene.”
The vehicle was spotted by a West Melbourne Officer who attempted a traffic stop that resulted in a pursuit that ended in the area of the Pineda Causeway.
The suspects abandoned the vehicle at the dead end of the Pineda Causeway and fled on foot. Attempts to locate the suspects were not successful.
Additional information received indicates the suspects possibly used an unknown resident’s phone and escaped the area in another vehicle.
The victim had recently moved into this apartment.
No injuries were reported.
