BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Quantarius Miller, 20, of Cocoa and Michelle Jenkins, 27, of Palm Bay were killed in a vehicle crash at Clearlake Road and Rosentine Street early Sunday about 12:55 a.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Miller was driving a 2006 Nissan Altima, and was traveling eastbound on Rosentine Street when a marked Cocoa police patrol car attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
The patrol car turned on the blue lights and Miller did not stop, and continued eastbound at a high rate of speed.
Meanwhile, Paul Turner, 64, of Cocoa, was traveling southbound in the outside lane on Clearlake Road, according to FHP. Jean Abner, 58, of Cocoa was a passenger in Turner’s vehicle.
At the intersection with Rosentine Street, Turner, who was driving a 2015 RAV4 had a green traffic light, and Miller’s was red.
Miller then traveled into the intersection, crashed with the left side of Turner’s vehicle and continued forward to the southeast corner of the intersection where the right side of his vehicle collided with a fire hydrant and a traffic signal control box.
Miller’s vehicle then struck a concrete wall and overturned, ejecting him. Miller was thrown against the wall before coming to final rest on the south shoulder, and the vehicle continued to overturn and collided with a mailbox. Miller was not wearing a seatbelt. Jenkins, who was wearing a seatbelt, was also killed.
Miller and Jenkins were taken to the medical examiners office.
According to FHP, Turner and Abner, who were both wearing seatbelts, were taken to Wuesthoff Hospital for treatment. There is currently no information about their condition.
