BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office South Precinct General Crimes Unit is attempting to identify a fraud investigation suspect.

According to Cpl. Dave Jacobs of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation was initiated after a victim contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report receiving several suspicious emails from Capital One in regard to numerous purchases made on an account.

“The victim discovered that an unknown person had a new Capital One card re-issued in the victim’s name and opened an Apple Pay account associated with the card,” said Cpl. Jacobs.

On Monday, 16 fraudulent transactions were made to the account. The purchases were for Visa gift cards and were conducted at Walgreens, Winn Dixie and Staples in the South area of Brevard County.
