Palm Bay Hires Veteran Engineer Jarvis Middleton As Public Works Director

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Jarvis Middleton will be the new Public Works Director for the City of Palm Bay beginning on March 29.
Middleton brings more than 30 years experience to Palm Bay’s Public Works team. He will be taking over the position from Barney Weiss who has been serving as acting director while the city worked to fill the position.
Middleton is a Professional Engineer with a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master’s of Business Administration in Finance from Georgia State University.
Over the past 30 years, he has established a track record of proven leadership through a philosophy of empowering staff at all levels to make decisions.
Middleton has extensive experience as a Public Works Director with experience in New Mexico, Georgia and Florida, with organizations ranging from 50 to more than 1,600 staff. He has managed projects and program budgets in excess of $500 million.
“I am thrilled to welcome him aboard,” said Palm Bay City Manager Gregg Lynk.
“His knowledge and experience will be put to use immediately with our roads program along with other major projects throughout the city.”
Middleton will spend the next few weeks visiting all areas of the city to prepare for his new role with Palm Bay.
