BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Earlier today, Billy Sylvester Byrd surrendered himself at the Brevard County Jail on a NO BOND felony warrant.
Agents with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit had been looking for Byrd since a warrant was issued for his arrest late last week, according to Cpl. Dave Jacobs of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
Byrd, who knew agents were closing in on him, said he felt he had no other choice but to surrender.
The investigation into Byrd began when agents in the Sex Offender Registration and Tracking (SORT) Unit determined Byrd was not adhering to his residency requirements as required by Florida law, according to Cpl. Jacobs.
Byrd has an extensive criminal history and was out on bond for a previous arrest for failing to abide by his registration requirements as a Sexual Predator.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey
“It gives me great pleasure to announce Byrd is behind bars where he belongs,” Sheriff Wayne Ivey stated.
“I am extremely proud of our Fugitive Unit and the members of the SORT Unit.”
