Two 24-Year-Old Merritt Island Men Killed In Single Vehicle Crash Early Saturday

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – William Spake, 24, and a yet to be identified 24-year old man were killed early Saturday morning in a single vehicle crash at Crisafulli Road and Jusdon Road in North Merritt Island.

Both men were residents of Merritt Island.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Spake was driving a 2004 Chevy Cavalier eastbound on Crisafulli Road, just east of Judson Road. For an unknown reason he lost control and traveled northeast off the roadway where the right side of his vehicle struck a utility pole.

After the collision with the utility pole, the vehicle entered a ditch full of water, collided with a driveway culvert and came to final rest against the driveway culvert in the ditch.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, both men were not wearing seat belts and died on scene.

This crash remains under investigation, including whether alcohol played a part in this crash.
