ORLANDO, FLORIDA – Veteran meteorologist, and one of central Florida’s most well known TV personalities, Danny Treanor has signed on to do the weather at 6 and 11 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays on WKMG Channel 6, the CBS affiliate in Orlando.

From 1978 to 1996, Treanor was one of Florida’s most popular weathermen on the Orlando ABC affiliate, WFTV.

Treanor, who started his career on the radio, spent 10 years with Central Florida News 13 and retired in 2013.

“Retirement was great but, this is a golden opportunity, and it puts me back together with some of my favorite people like Julie Broughton and Tom Sorrells,” Treanor told the Orlando Sentinel’s Hal Boedeker Wednesday.

According to WKMG, Treanor will replace Elizabeth Hart, who has left the station to pursue other TV opportunities.

“In 1978, I came to Central Florida to talk about the weather,” said Treanor. “I’m lucky because we have a top-notch team.”
