BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Fire Departments responded to a massive blaze at a Cocoa Beach mansion around 9 p.m. that used to be owned by the late media legend Allen H. Neuharth who founded USA TODAY and FLORIDA TODAY, and was one of the newspaper industry’s most influential personalities.
The property located, at 333 S. Atlantic Avenue, has been the center of some of the biggest philanthropic and business happenings in Brevard County since 1975 when the property was originally built.
The sale of the iconic property known as the “Pumpkin Center” in Cocoa Beach closed in February, and sold for $4 million, according to the Multiple Listing Service and new homeowners.
“This is the biggest fire I’ve ever seen in Cocoa Beach,” said Larry Garrison, former COO of Health First and five decade resident of the Central Brevard beach community.
