BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – With the advent of a seemingly endless array of aesthetic options, many dermatologists have opted out of traditional treatments to concentrate on the wrinkle-reducing, fat-blasting aspects of the field.
Not so for Dr. Anthony Porter, president and owner of Porter Premiere Dermatology and Surgery Center in Melbourne.
“We have a really comprehensive practice,” said Porter. “This separates our practice from others.”
While Porter Dermatology embraces the full spectrum of cutting-edge aesthetic options, the practice continues to be deeply grounded in all phases of dermatology, including pediatric dermatology.
Porter Premier Dermatology places no restriction on patient care based on age, and provides care from youth through old age.
“Some dermatologists won’t see kids, but we do,” said Porter. “We treat all ages, all conditions.”
For example, Porter Dermatology offers a range of biologics (Enbrel, Humira, Stelara, Cosentyx) for the treatment of systemic skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and cutaneous lymphoma. While very effective, these biologics are not offered by all dermatological practices.
“These are amazing life changing products,” said Porter.
“A lot of the dermatologists that just focus on the cosmetic practice do not offer this treatment. They are fantastic treatments, but some physicians aren’t using them.”

that only goes skin deep to treat all non-melanoma skin cancers. Patients can
be safely treated right in the office.
CHIEF OF DERMATOLOGY
Porter, a former nuclear design engineer, brings 15 years experience to the job. A graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina, Porter also completed his medical residency at that institution.

He was appointed co-chief resident in his last year of residency and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He is board certified in dermatology and has practiced in Melbourne since 2006.
Porter is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Medical Association, the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery and the Brevard County Medical Society. He is section chief of dermatology at Health First Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne.
In 2010, Porter opened Porter Premier Dermatology and Surgery Center to serve a full range of general, surgical and non-invasive cosmetic dermatological services.
The practice treats conditions such as acne, actinic keratoses, alopecia, psoriasis, eczema, skin cancers, collagen vascular diseases and a multitude of systemic skin diseases, and spider veins. Routine skin cancer surveillance exams comprise a significant part of the practice.
Porter Dermatology is also one of the few dermatology practices in the area to offer blue light therapy for pre-cancerous lesions.
“A panel of blue lights treats all the pre-cancerous lesions on your face or scalp in just a few minutes,” said Porter.
“It’s a great way of treating a large area.”
As part of Porter Dermatology’s aesthetic portfolio, the SCITON Laser turns back the clock with extremely satisfying outcomes for patients.
The SCITON Laser offers complete resurfacing, photofacials, acne and rosacea treatments, as well as laser-induced hair reduction. It is particularly effective with a condition that affects many residents of Florida: age spots or sun spots.

FOREVER YOUNG
The Sunshine State offers plenty of wonderful rays of sun, but years spent chasing a tan causes significant sun damage.
Part of the treatment options offered through use of the SCITON Laser include the Forever Young BBL, a photofacial that uses broadband light technology, delivering intense, yet gentle light energy to the upper layers of the skin to smooth out skin tone, texture and color, as well as to improve fine lines and wrinkles.
According to Porter, a Stanford University study notes that the treatment may actually alter the way skin ages. Researchers have discovered that patients who have undergone broadband light technology for years may seem to defy the passage of time by appearing to look younger than when they first sought the treatment. The treatment is best suitable for lighter skin types, added Porter

MED SPA PORTFOLIO
Available at Porter Dermatology’s Suntree location, another ally in the fight to look your best is the JuVaShape RF device, a safe, affordable, comfortable and effective treatment for hard-to-reduce areas. JuVaShape minimizes the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks, by tightening the skin on the body and face.
Porter’s medical spa portfolio also includes cosmetic injectables such as Botox, the most requested cosmetic procedure in the country, as well as dermal fillers, laser skin resurfacing, chemical peels, microneedling and microdermabrasion designed to promote cell turnover by removing the superficial layer of old skin cells and stimulating the production of healthy new ones.
These treatments minimize fine lines and smooth skin tone and texture for a more youthful appearance.
“We offer the full range of aesthtic fillers, in addition to Kybella, which is one of the newest treatments,” said Porter.
Approved by the FDA in mid-2015, Kybella, similar to the human body’s own deoxycholic acid, absorbs and destroys fat cells. It is an excellent alternative to liposuction and surgery, particularly for the reduction of double chins.
“Kybella offers permanent reduction of fat,” explained Porter.

REASONABLE PRICES
Porter Dermatology offers MDPen micro needling, an effective tool in anti-aging skin care. MDPen lifts and tightens the skin while providing texture improvement and scar treatment for all ages and skin types.

In addition to embracing new treatment options, Porter Dermatology also depends on tried-and-true treatments such as narrow band UVB photo therapy.
“This treatment has been around for many years, but many dermatologists got rid of these because they weren’t profitable for them, even though the use of this technology can be very beneficial for some patients,” said Porter.
“There are certain conditions, such as psoriasis and cutaneous t-cell lymphomas, for which it is very effective and safe. It is so good that we get referrals for it from Moffitt Cancer Center. The closest other practices that offer this are in Vero Beach and Orlando. Brevard patients appreciate having the option to receive treatment right here and not have to travel any distances.”
Because the majority of aesthetic treatments are not covered by health insurance, Porter Premier Dermatology has developed a “frequent patient” loyalty program to ease the strain on the pocketbook.
“We keep our prices reasonable,” said Porter.
“Our loyalty program passes savings onto our patients.”
During patient appreciation events, held twice annually, patients can enjoy significant discounts in cost of treatments.
“Our approach is always patient-centered,” said Porter.
