BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Police Chief Mark Renkens traveled with his wife Robin to New York to attend the Second Annual “Breaking the Silence of Hypertension” Gala held in Brooklyn, New York on Thursday.

During the event, Chief Renkens was presented with the Sonny Archer Law Enforcement Scholarship Foundation’s “Humanitarian Award” of the year.

The foundation is a non-profit scholarship foundation with a focus on saving lives and cutting healthcare costs by providing hypertension education and screening to law enforcement officers.

Staff from the foundation reached out to Chief Renkens last year looking for assistance with setting up screenings for hypertension.
