The Brevard County Sheriff's Office is seeking 30-year-old Dwan Jerome Thomas III of Rockledge in connection with the Thursday morning threat made to Audubon Elementary School, located at 1201 N. Banana River Drive in Merritt Island, Florida.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is seeking 30-year-old Dwan Jerome Thomas III of Rockledge in connection with the Thursday morning incident at Audubon Elementary School, located at 1201 N. Banana River Drive in Merritt Island, Florida.

The school was placed in a precautionary lockdown at 8:30 am. The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is currently on scene and the school is secure. There has been no violence associated with the threat.

While the campus is secure, arrangements have been established to allow parents who wish to check out their children. Parents are asked to park at the Lighthouse Church, located at 1250 N. Banana River Drive where they
will be escorted onto campus to check out their child.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect has an active warrant for his arrest for an unrelated charge.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office issued an alert on Thursday morning about 8:30 a.m. that Audubon Elementary School on Merritt Island is in a precautionary lockdown.

“Earlier today a third party threat was received concerning Audubon Elementary School, Merritt Island,” Cpl. John Martinez of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in a press release.

“The School is in a precautionary lockdown. The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is currently on scene and the school is secure. There has been no violence associated with the threat. A more detailed news update will be released shortly.”
