ABOVE VIDEO: Archived footage from ABC covering Apollo 13’s return to earth. Astronauts Jim Lovell, Jack Hayes, Fred Haise and Jack Swigert survived a perilous journey that include an oxygen leak and a damaged heat shield. The epic story of survival was chronicled in Lovell’s autobiography entitled “Lost Moon”, and -enacted in Ron Howard’s 1995 movie “Apollo 13:, starring Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Gary Sinese and Ed Harris.
