Proceeds Raise Scholarship Funds For Veterans
BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Show some patriotic spirit by helping raise scholarship funds for veterans and their families at the upcoming “Red, White and Wheels Car Show” at Eastern Florida State College.
The July 30 event will be held at Cocoa campus’ main entrance on Clearlake Road. It’s free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Those wishing to participate need to register their cars by July 25.
The show will feature classic and next-generation cars with proceeds going to the college’s Collegiate Veterans Society and the Eastern Florida State College Foundation to provide financial aid.
The college has nearly 1,150 veterans and dependents enrolled, including many men and women who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The GI Bill provides veterans with a range of educational benefits but some costs remain unpaid. The car show will help fill the gap with the money raised.
“It’s going to be a fun day for an important cause, which is helping veterans get the education they need to move into successful careers,” said Phil Sweeney, a service officer at the college’s Military and Veterans Service Center.
Participants can register their car for $20 before July 8, and $30 from July 9 -July 25.
The show will award trophies for Classic Cars prior to 1990 and next Next-Generation cars from 1990 to now. There will also be a Spectator’s Choice trophy given to one vehicle.
To register a car e-mail redwhiteandwheels@gmail.com or call 321-433-7880.
