BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA –Closing out an outstanding career, Florida Tech’s Samantha Martinez has been selected as a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Second Team All-American, announced Thursday by the CRCA.
Martinez is the first Panther to be named an All-American since 2011, when former Florida Tech rowing and soccer great Jennifer Gillette was tabbed to the first team.
The senior is one of five Sunshine State Conference athletes named to the All-American squad by the CRCA, joining Barry’s Rosita Boncheva and Bethany Desmond as well as Nova Southeastern’s Bethany Warlich and Sarah Woelfer.
Martinez was a crucial leader in a resurgent year for the Panthers’ varsity eight boat, which included third place finishes at the Knecht Cup and SSC Championships, as well as a finals appearance at the Dad Vail Regatta.
