Rockledge Police Department To Host ‘Weather-Ready Expo’ Today

Hurricane Myths and Misconceptions
BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Residents can hear from the experts on how to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season and other potential disasters during the Weather-Ready Expo, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Rockledge Police Department, located on 1776 Jack Oates Boulevard in Rockledge.
Admission is free.
The event includes a variety of exhibits, family-friendly activities and instruction and weather safety tips from area safety and weather experts.
Topics include Hurricane Myths and Misconceptions; Building an All-Hazard Kit; Lightning Safety and Storm Surge; the Four Hazards of Hurricanes; and Active-Shooter Preparedness.
There will be refreshments available, and chances to win a weather radio.
Activities include a public safety touch-a-truck and the opportunity to “become a television weather forecaster.”
Sponsors include Brevard County Emergency Management, the National Weather Service-Melbourne, American Red Cross, Brevard County Fire Rescue, City of Rockledge, Salvation Army, 211 Brevard, Brevard County Mosquito Control, Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster and Brevard Emergency Amateur Radio Services (BEARS.)
