University of Central Florida Remembers Pulse Victims At Candlelight Vigil

ORLANDO, FLORIDA – The University of Central Florida hosted a vigil Tuesday night to remember and honor those who lost their lives in the shooting at Pulse this past weekend.

Hundreds turned out as members of the UCF community and the public attended.

The vigil began at 7 p.m. at Memory Mall on the main campus.

Speakers included UCF President John C. Hitt, Joe Saunders of the Human Rights Campaign, SGA President Chris Clemente, members of UCF student groups and faculty.

The event is being organized by members of UCF’s LGBTQ+ community with support from UCF Social Justice and Advocacy.

The names of the shooting victims were read.

Among the victims of the Pulse tragedy are two members of the UCF family: student Juan Ramon Guerrero, 22, and alumnus Christopher Andrew Leinonen, 32.
