BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The second annual Dancing For the Space Coast, a unique competition and fundraising event that benefits three worthy organizations on the Space Coast, will be held this evening at Florida Tech’s Clemente Center beginning at 6 p.m.

This year, Dancing For the Space Coast will benefit the Brevard Public Safety Charity, who has earmarked the proceeds to be distributed to the Foosner Art Museum, Sally’s House and AMI Kids.

This exciting event will feature 13 Space Coast community and business leaders, including Jim Frazier, owner of Grimaldi Candy Company; Kent Smith, President and COO of Revolution Technologies; John Lau, Titusville Police Chief; Christina Rose of Bansbach EasyLift; Courtney Chavert; Carol Ann Stumpf of Beyond and Back Travel; Lori Scott, Brevard County Supervisor of Elections; Brenda Sheets of Harris Corporation; Eric Austin, Cocoa police officer and AMI Kids board member; Dr. Desmond Blackburn, Brevard County Schools superintendent; Michelle Pearse; Dr. Kantilal Bhalani of the Doctors’ Goodwill Foundation, and Bino Campanini of the Florida Institute of Technology.

Each celebrity dancer will be matched up with a professional dancer as they compete in a ballroom dance – and for bragging rights as the best dancer in Brevard.

Each dance pair will compete in a choreographed ballroom dance that will be scored by a panel of judges. During the show, couples will earn scores based on several technical skill factors, but the judges’ scores alone don’t decide the dancer’s final score.

Leading up to the actual performance, the dancers will have already scored 60 percent of their points through their fundraising endeavors.

Dancing For the Space Coast is presented by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and sponsored by Harris Corporation, Space Coast Daily, Revolution Technologies and Florida Institute of Technology.
