BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The second annual Dancing For the Space Coast, a unique competition and fundraising event that benefits three worthy organizations on the Space Coast, will be held at Florida Tech’s Clemente Center on Saturday, June 4.
This year, Dancing For the Space Coast will benefit the Brevard Public Safety Charity, who has earmarked the proceeds to be distributed to the Foosner Art Museum, Sally’s House and AMI Kids.
Among those participating this year is Brevard County Supervisor of Elections Lori Scott, who was elected in 2008.
She also serves on the Legislative Committee of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections and is a proud member of Brevard’s Civilian-Military Council.
While in office, she has made community outreach and voter education top priorities for Brevard County, the state’s ninth largest.
You can find her out in the community overseeing Sunshine State Young Readers elections at area schools, Student Government elections and giving speeches to educate various groups of voters throughout the county.
A lifelong resident of Brevard County, Scott is active in several charitable giving activities throughout the year, including organizing a “VOTE to End Childhood Hunger” Bake Sale and Raffle, partnering with Brevard Schools Foundation to supply backpacks and school supplies to Brevard students, and partnering with WESH 2 for the “Share Your Christmas” Food Drive during the holidays.
Scott has two sons, Shane and Jake, and in 2014, she became a first-time grandmother with the birth of her granddaughter, Quinn.
Her passion for dancing really took off in high school when she became a member of the Eau Gallie Drill Team in Melbourne. She also participated in the Dance Brevard competition in 2006, enjoying the spirited competition and great dancers she met. She continues dancing one afternoon each week.
